I was expecting these two 5 month old puppies to sleep for more than 8 hours a day. At least according to authoritative dog sites on the internet, puppies are expected to sleep and rest for these many hours. Well, not these two cockapoos. Maisie and Molly must be an exception because they hardly sleep at all.
But when they do, I am always delighted to find them cuddled together in many different shapes.
The forecast today was rain all day. I thought the dogs would have to miss their daily run. I think Maisie must have been singing rain rain go away because we actually got a window of opportunity where the sun peeped out and rain halted for about 40 minutes, enough time for us to go out and get our daily exercise.
Aware that the weather can change quite quickly, we stayed close by so we can hurry home to take shelter – it is really for my benefit because if the decision was left to these two cockapoos, they would have preferred getting all mucky.
We have a few places that we go for walks, em, more like runs. These dogs do not know how to walk. They pull on leads like two huskies pulling a sled. When we get to destination and are released, they take off like race horses out of the gate. Today, we picked Millie Way. This is a green area inside our development where dogs can go off-lead. It has walking paths amidst expanse of green and stretches of trees that borders private farm lands. In the summer, the caretakers let the grass grow wild so as to attract wildlife. Maisie and Molly enjoys chasing all the critters in the field – so far, they have only been able to flush out pheasants, pigeons, magpies and on one occasion, a baby deer. Needless to say, coming to Millie Way is always an adventure for them.
