Maisie and Molly: A Tale of Two Cockapoos, Sisters in Adventure”

Introduction: Meet Maisie and Molly, two delightful Cockapoos who share not only their breed and home but also an adventurous spirit that keeps their human companions on their toes. These sisters, born from the same litter, have now reached the ripe age of 4, and their unique personalities and sibling dynamics make for a lively household.

Sibling Dynamics: Despite being sisters, Maisie and Molly have distinct personalities that add flavor to their interactions. Interestingly, there’s no clear alpha dog in this duo; instead, they engage in a playful sibling rivalry. While Maisie exhibits a more polite and respectful demeanor, particularly around mealtime, she’s not one to shy away from claiming attention or space when she desires it. It seems that Maisie knows how to assert herself without dominating her sister.

However, don’t mistake politeness for passivity. Maisie takes charge when Molly’s behaviour gets a bit unruly, especially during grooming sessions or when Molly decides to explore beyond the visual reach. Maisie acts as the big sister, telling her sister off by bitting her leg gently. The adventurous spirit of these two is notable, and thankfully, their well-trained nature, coupled with the use of a Tractive GPS collar, allows them the freedom to roam within set boundaries.

Tractive GPS Collar: The Tractive GPS collar not only gives their human companions peace of mind by providing real-time location tracking but also adds an extra layer of control through the virtual fence feature. This ensures that Maisie and Molly stay within designated boundaries, preventing any unforeseen adventures. Moreover, the ability to respond to a whistle, albeit sometimes with a delay when squirrels are involved, showcases their intelligence and training.

Conclusion: Maisie and Molly, the dynamic duo of Cockapoos, bring joy, adventure, and a touch of mischief to their household. As they navigate the world together, their unique personalities, Maisie’s politeness, and Molly’s adventurous spirit create a harmonious balance. This tale of two Cockapoos is a testament to the joys and challenges of raising siblings from the same litter. Twinsies

COCKAPOOS TWINSIES

I was expecting these two 5 month old puppies to sleep for more than 8 hours a day.  At least according to authoritative dog sites on the internet, puppies are expected to sleep and rest for these many hours.  Well, not these two cockapoos. Maisie and Molly must be an exception because they hardly sleep at all.

But when they do, I am always delighted to find them cuddled together in many different shapes.

MILLIE WAY

The forecast today was rain all day. I thought the dogs would have to miss their daily run. I think Maisie must have been singing rain rain go away because we actually got a window of opportunity where the sun peeped out and rain halted for about 40 minutes, enough time for us to go out and get our daily exercise.

Aware that the weather can change quite quickly, we stayed close by so we can hurry home to take shelter – it is really for my benefit because if the decision was left to these two cockapoos, they would have preferred getting all mucky.

We have a few places that we go for walks, em, more like runs. These dogs do not know how to walk. They pull on leads like two huskies pulling a sled. When we get to destination and are released, they take off like race horses out of the gate. Today, we picked Millie Way. This is a green area inside our development where dogs can go off-lead. It has walking paths amidst expanse of green and stretches of trees that borders private farm lands. In the summer, the caretakers let the grass grow wild so as to attract wildlife. Maisie and Molly enjoys chasing all the critters in the field – so far, they have only been able to flush out pheasants, pigeons, magpies and on one occasion, a baby deer. Needless to say, coming to Millie Way is always an adventure for them.

Love at first sight

As many of you might have experienced, you go out intending only to look, not to commit.  You’re not certain this is the right time or the right breed.  You’ve done your due diligence online, scrolled through instagram puppy photos until you become addicted. But falling in love happens when you least expect it.   Maisie and Molly were 12 weeks old when we first saw them at the breeders. All their 5 siblings have gone to their forever homes leaving these two sisters. When they were let out of their playpen to meet us, Maisie ran straight to us as if we were her long lost humans and was overjoyed to be reunited.  She made all the right moves. Licking our faces, pawing our legs, looking at us with her adorable puppy eyes (there is something very special about locking eyes with your dog, an understanding of sorts that warms your heart).

Molly, on the other hand, sort of tagged along beside her sister,  bouncing about to let us know she is keen to meet us, but not quite sure about getting too close. Both were wagging their tails like propellers. Who wouldn’t fall in love with these two when they make you feel like the most important humans they have ever known.  I know, they are only 12 week old puppies, so how many humans have they seen?  Regardless, I sensed a connection that lingered long after we left to see other puppies on our list,

All the other puppies we saw were equally adorable. All puppies are adorable. But, Maisie and Molly…they were special.  It went beyond being adorable.  Needless to say, Ash and I were both smitten.
